About the Casarão do Pontal
The Casarão do Pontal was constructed in the beginning of the 20th century, known to be currently around 100 years old.
It belonged to the commodore Manuel António Gonçalves, Portuguese natural of Fafe, illustrious inhabitant of the city of
Penedo-AL and prosperous entrepreneur of the textile industry, he was married to Dona Celina de Oliveira. The family
spent their vacations in this house where they joined friends and relatives and were known to ammount to as many as
60 people. It was a joy for the population of the Pontal of the Coruripe therefore in this period many worked in the house
and the generosity of Dona Celina is present to this day, in the memory of oldest inhabitants who insist on calling this
house " House of Dona Celina". It is located right next to the beach.
Restoration of the Casarão do Pontal
This house was restored in 2006 where the preservation was faithfull to the original model. The restoration also included
the original furniture of the house. The Casarão do Pontal is aimed at Tourism of Habitation where the guests are
received by the proprietors and employees from the house where they will be able to enjoy of the most beautiful sight of
the sea in the Pontal and take their morning coffee next to the sea.
